Indian traffic

Yesterday me and my daughter made a trip to a most wonderful beach some 20 km north of Calicut. We made the trip with a cab, and hade once again the possibility to watch the Indian most impossible traffic and logistic network. We drew out of Calicut along one of its main roads. Some 15 km north of the city the road crosses a waste river. The bridge going over this river is that narrow that two lorries cant meet on this bridge. It is probably some remain from the British colonies. You can just imagine the horror at both bridge-ends when everybody wants to get over the bridge at the same time.

Getting back we took the road over the railway, just when the train came, so we had to stop and wait. There was not only one train but two trains. As  we were waiting the cars and tuktuks were piling up and stocking a crossroad, and there was a lot of beeping and horning though nobody could do anything. But this was all calm compared to what happened when the gates (which were manually operated) opened. Then everybody tried to be the first to come over the railroad. This can newer be but a disaster when the amount of cars will be tree or five times the amount of to day in some years.
